Writing Your Essay

Question: How are visual techniques used to develop the relationship between characters in Run Lola Run?

Goal:
•    Demonstrates a well-developed understanding of the ways meaning is shaped through image.
•    Analyses skilfully the way image is used to portray key aspects of the text.
•    Demonstrates detailed textual knowledge and understanding.
•    Organises, develops and expresses ideas skilfully, using language appropriate to audience, purpose and form.

What to Do

Introduction

The introduction should be designed to attract the reader's attention and give him/her an idea of the essay's focus.  A few sentences explaining your topic in general terms outlines what your essay will cover and argue. Each sentence should become gradually more specific, until you reach your last sentence. Finish the paragraph with your main statement.

The topic you have chosen and established in your Introduction must now be explained, described and analysed. Make sure the sentences flow smoothly from one to the other, this will allow your argument to be logical and coherent. Transition words, such as "Therefore", “Although, “Nevertheless”, “Indeed”, “Similarly”, “Alternatively” or "However," sometimes help in making your sentences flow into each other.

Conclusion  

The conclusion brings closure to the reader, summing up your points or providing a final perspective on your topic. All the conclusion needs is three or four strong sentences that do not need to follow any set formula. Simply review the main points (being careful not to restate them exactly).
